It is widely recognized that the size offerings of apparel in retail establishments serves the consuming public poorly. Studies conducted indicate that over 50% of the consumer population is not satisfied with the fit of off-the-rack clothes. Sizing systems in place at most major apparel companies date back to the 1950's, 60's, and 70's for lack of better information. Inevitably, people are forced to have expensive alterations done or simply wear clothes that fit poorly.

Your personal image is more important than you think. Your clothes and the way you carry yourself will determine whether people take your seriously and recognize your authority. Professionals would hope that their abilities and experience would convey their image. But that's often not the case.

Experienced shoppers know sizes vary from manufacturer-to-manufacturer, label-to-label, material-to-material and even one time to the next. In other words, clothes sizing is NOT an exact science.


Traditionally garment fit is determined by the interpretation of derived measurement data to produce pattern-drafting co-ordinates that reflect the ‘ideal’ customer size/shape profile. The process contains an implicit fit rationale, which can produce a disparity between actual body shape and proportions, and the pattern geometry.

We started a project aimed at helping you pick the right sizes. Unfortunately, our research showed that it's hard to find two people in the clothing industry that agree on anything. Every manufacturer has differently sized patterns and a different understanding of what the size numbers mean.
